MPLS
Superior performance for business critical applications
MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) is a cost effective, secure and fully managed network service that allows the connection of geographically dispersed sites.
The rapid growth of the Internet has placed pressure on service providers. MPLS enables Service Providers, such as Surfwise, to offer improved and additional services to their resellers.
What is MPLS?
MPLS is a mechanism for packet forwarding in network routers. Its flexibility allows modern networks to successfully achieve Quality of Service (QoS), next generation VPN services and optical signalling.
MPLS works by tagging packets with an identifier (a label) to distinguish the LSPs (Label Switched Packets). This creates very fast and efficient forwarding engines, as the router can select the label to minimise processing.
How does my customer benefit from MPLS?
The benefit of traffic management migrating to MPLS is greater reliability, increased performance and additional services. MPLS brings performance enhancements to the reseller through improved network service creation capabilities.
Surfwise’s MPLS provides the security of a VPN with superior performance for business critical applications, allowing you to benefit from converging voice, data and video traffic onto the same network.
Where does IP VPN fit in?
IP VPN (IP-enabled Virtual Private Network) uses MPLS to converge voice, video and data networks both securely and cost effectively.
