Surfwise Broadband QoS
Service Levels Designed For All Requirements
Quality of Service (QoS) is a technology that manages the congestion and queues in packet-switched networks and at the same time keeps the advantages of these networks, such as high throughput and dynamic re-allocation of bandwidth between users.
Surfwise's QoS packages divide network traffic into different groups during periods of congestion and process those groups in various ways depending upon their QoS type.
Surfwise's QoS packages queues IP packets before transmission and sends them according to order priority. For example, packets containing time sensitive information, such as fragments of speech in a VoIP call, will be sent high priority while, file downloads using FTP are given lower priority.
QoS 1 : Standard Business
Quality of Service Level 1 is designed for single users and small businesses. It has a fair usage policy of 100GB.
This QoS package comes as standard on all our broadband products.
QoS 2: Business Voice & Video (CIR & 512kps)
Surfwise's QoS Level 2 is designed for small to medium size businesses. It offers a 512k minimum of guaranteed bandwidth through Surfwise's core network and prioritises traffic above QoS 1 and QoS 3 making it ideal for VoIP. It has a fair usage policy of 100GB and is offered for an additional cost.
QoS 3: Unlimited P2P & File sharing
Surfwises's QoS 3 is designed for small to medium size businesses and is ideal for users with big file download requirements like peer-to-peer and HDTV streaming. This package has no limits to the type of traffic or the amount downloaded and is offered for an additional cost.
